Elizabeth Delphine (Bolander) Montgomery (1869 – 1934)
I found this picture in my Aunt’s collection of old family pictures and I had to share. I would love to know the story behind having a picture of Elizabeth feeding the chickens.
It is my great grandmother Elizabeth Delphine (Bolander) Montgomery. Elizabeth was born 7 Sep 1869 in Findlay, Ohio to William Henry Bolander and Sarah B Crossley. She was the oldest daughter of seven children.
They moved to Arcadia Village, Hamilton Co, Indiana by 1895 where their second daughter Merrine was born. When John died in 1903 at the age of 35, it appears Elizabeth moved back to Findlay. She married John Luther Cummins in Findlay on 27 Jun, 1907 and they appear in Findlay as part of the 1910 Census. Interestingly, Cleo is listed separately in the 1910 Census as the head of household at 20 years old and her sister, Merrine (14) is listed with her.
Elizabeth had one daughter (Mary Elizabeth) with John Cummins. By 1930, John and Elizabeth are living with Mary and her husband, Forest E Dick in Cass Twp, Hancock Co, Ohio.
Elizabeth died on 30 Dec 1934 and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, Ohio.
